1. Scope and Basic Principles
These Guidelines apply to product reviews and ratings on Viewduc, provided by Viewduc Insight (the “Company”).
Core Principle
Reviews must be written independently based on your actual experience using the product. The same standards apply to positive and negative reviews.
2. Actual Use Experience
- Do not write a review or rating for a product you have not personally used.
- You may not present another person’s experience, an online review, or advertising copy as your own experience using the product.
- Product reviews should focus on your experience using the product itself. Distinguish information about the place of purchase, shipping, and similar matters from your experience using the product.
- You may review a product you used a long time ago; however, do not state as fact anything about which your memory is uncertain or that may have changed because the product was reformulated or renewed.
3. Prohibition of Compensated and Sponsored Reviews
If you have received or been offered any of the following economic benefits from a brand, manufacturer, seller, marketing or public relations agency, or a party with an interest in any of them, in connection with writing, editing, or deleting a review, you may not write that review.
- Cash, writing fees, commissions, or other monetary compensation
- Free products, samples, or products provided through a trial group, supporters program, or ambassador program
- Discounts, coupons, store credit, points, cashback, promotional gifts, or opportunities to enter a prize drawing offered on the condition that you write a review
- Refunds, compensation, or other benefits offered on the condition that you edit or delete a review
Merely labeling a review as “sponsored” or “advertisement” does not make it permissible as an ordinary consumer review on Viewduc.
Events independently operated by the Company for participation in the service may be administered under separate event criteria if they do not require a positive evaluation of a particular brand or a specific rating.
4. Conflicts of Interest
Do not write a review if you have an interest that could affect the review’s independence, including any of the following:
- You are an owner, employee, contractor, or marketing agency representative of the relevant brand, manufacturer, or seller.
- You operate the brand or product yourself or have a direct economic interest in it.
- You are writing a review of a competing product to influence its rating on behalf of a competing brand or a party related to it.
- You have any other relationship that would make it difficult for a reasonable user to regard the review as an independent consumer opinion.
5. Distinguishing Facts from Opinions
- Personal impressions and opinions, such as “It felt drying on my skin,” may be expressed freely.
- When asserting objective facts, such as whether an ingredient is legally prohibited, criminal or unlawful conduct, or causing disease, do not state them conclusively without verifiable grounds.
- Content that conclusively claims that a cosmetic diagnoses, treats, or prevents a disease, or induces other users to discontinue necessary medical judgment, may be restricted.
- If you discover an error in product or ingredient data, you may use the information correction reporting feature.
6. Prohibited Content
The following content may not be included in reviews.
- Threats, harassment, hate or discrimination, explicit sexual content, or illegal information
- Unnecessary personal information, such as an individual's telephone number, address, email address, or order information
- Advertising or promotional information, such as sales links, referral codes, discount codes, or contact information
- Content that unlawfully infringes another person's copyright, trademark rights, portrait rights, reputation, or privacy
- Content intended to manipulate the service or deceive other users
7. Copied, AI-Generated, and Duplicate Reviews
- You may not copy, translate, or modify another site’s or another person’s review and post it as your own.
- You must not use generative AI to fabricate nonexistent usage experiences or to write the evaluation itself on your behalf.
- Spelling corrections, language editing, or translation assistance are permitted to the extent that they do not alter your actual experience.
- Repeatedly registering reviews with substantially identical content for the same product or increasing ratings through multiple accounts is prohibited.
8. Personal Information and the Rights of Others
- Do not include unnecessary personal information about yourself or others in a review.
- Information identifying an individual, such as an employee’s real name or photograph, may be restricted if it is not relevant to the core content of the review or may infringe that individual’s rights.
- Do not post without authorization any image or text that you did not create or for which you do not have the right to use.
9. Editing and Deleting Reviews
A review author may edit or delete their own review through the features provided by the service. You may update a review if your usage experience has changed or an issue has been resolved; however, a business or third party must not demand that a review be edited or deleted through compensation or pressure.
10. Review Authenticity Verification
If the authenticity of a review or its compliance with the policies is reasonably in doubt, the company may request additional information from the author to verify the actual usage experience. A purchase receipt will not be used as the sole criterion, and the company may request materials appropriate to the circumstances, such as evidence of product possession, the time of use, or photographs taken during use.
When necessary, the review may be temporarily hidden from display until the review is complete. A review will not always be determined to be false solely because materials were not submitted, and the company will consider multiple available circumstances together.
11. Measures for Policy Violations
Depending on the nature and severity of the violation, measures may include restricting the display of a review, hiding it from display, excluding it from rating or review-count totals, deleting it, restricting review-writing functionality, and issuing an account warning or suspension. Organized review manipulation or serious violations may result in immediate and severe measures.
12. Appeals
If you believe that a measure was taken in error, you may request reconsideration by specifying the review at issue and the grounds for the appeal and sending the request to [email protected].
Frequently Asked Questions
I received the product for free, but is it acceptable if I write an honest review?
We do not permit general consumer reviews of products or samples provided free of charge by a brand, seller, or their interested party. This is a separate criterion from whether the review was written honestly.
Can I not review a product purchased using a general discount or coupon?
You may review a product purchased at your own expense using a general discount or coupon available to anyone. However, discounts, coupons, or cashback provided on the condition that you write a review or give a specific rating are not permitted.
May I review cosmetics that I received as a gift from a friend?
Yes. You may write about your actual use experience if the person who gave you the gift is not a commercial interested party, such as the brand or seller, and the gift was not provided on the condition that you write a review.
What are the review events at Viewduc where I can receive a prize?
Events operated independently by the company that do not require a positive evaluation of a particular brand or a specific rating may be conducted in accordance with separate event standards. These events are distinct from cases in which a brand or seller provides compensation for a review.
I am a brand employee and purchased my company's product with my own money. May I review it?
No. Because you have a direct interest in your company's product, please do not write a general consumer review.
Will my review be deleted if I do not have a purchase receipt?
No. We do not use a receipt alone as the sole criterion for review eligibility. However, if authenticity verification is necessary, we may request other materials that can verify your actual use experience.
Are negative reviews also deleted?
We do not delete reviews solely because they have a low rating or are unfavorable to a brand. We apply the same policy to positive and negative reviews.
May I use AI to refine my sentences?
Spell-checking, organizing expressions, and translation assistance are permitted as long as they do not alter your actual experience or judgment. AI may not create your use experience or evaluation.
The product or ingredient information is incorrect. May I mention it in my review?
You may mention it in your review in connection with your own experience, but if you are attempting to correct an error in the database, please use the product and ingredient information correction report.
