OrbisAdvanced Brightening SerumThis is a brightening serum I used and loved for about 5 years! I started using it when I began noticing dark spots, and although I sometimes strayed and tried other brightening serums along the way, I ended up using this one for a long time I used it for about 5 years, from age 33 to 38, and really felt like it kept my dark spots from getting worse. Rather than caring for existing dark spots, I used it because I felt like “I don’t want to get any more dark spots and want to keep preventing them.” It’s 4,950 yen for 36 mL. In my case, one bottle lasted about 1.5 months, so it came to around 3,300 yen per month. The relatively affordable price for a brightening serum was another reason I was able to keep using it for so long. I tried other products here and there, but this was ultimately a favorite that I kept using for about 5 years. I recommend it for preventive care if you don’t have many dark spots yet, or for anyone who wants to keep up with brightening care while prioritizing value for money! I wanted to take my skincare more seriously, so I doubled my budget and now use a different brightening serum.

KoséSekkisei Brightening Essence LotionIt feels so nice on my skin when I chill it in the fridge before using it! I liked how it felt better with a cotton pad than with my hands🎶 Since it's so lightweight, it might not be moisturizing enough for people with dry skin. When it's not enough, I layer a different toner on top!

MediCubeTXA Niacinamide 15% SerumI used this to brighten my skin tone and help with dark spots and dullness. Honestly, I didn't really notice much of a visible effect. The texture is light and not too sticky, but sometimes it did feel a little tacky. It doesn't feel all that moisturizing. Rather than giving dramatic results, I think it's the kind of product you use long-term and hope to see gradual changes with.

ObagiNeo C25 Vitamin C SerumThis is a high-concentration vitamin C serum. I've kept using it to prevent dark spots. I've tried a lot of vitamin C serums, but I like the quality of this one and how well it absorbs. It has an oily texture, but it's also nice how it sinks right in. I can definitely tell that it's effective at preventing dark spots. As for making them lighter... it doesn't seem like it has... But I think it does a really good job of preventing dark spots while I'm using it. It's the best product for dark spot prevention. Honestly, I also think the cheaper, more affordable Melano CC might be good enough. I think consistency is the most important thing, and Obagi 25 is a little too expensive for me, so I'm not sure if I can keep using it... If I could afford to keep using it, Obagi 25 would be the best, though. Also, this isn't limited to Obagi 25 and applies to vitamin C products in general, but the higher the concentration, the more residue it leaves on your skin if you don't properly wash it off. It's clear when you apply it, but after a few hours it oxidizes and turns a yellowish to pinkish color. Quite a bit of that color stays behind if you don't remove it thoroughly with cleanser... Since Obagi 25 has a high concentration, the color after applying it bothered me quite a bit. It also stains the collars of white clothes, so I thought that's something you need to be careful about... As far as effectiveness goes, it's an incredibly excellent and reliable serum, but it seems like it needs to be handled with care.

HAKUMelanofocus IVI bought this because I wanted to stay consistent with my brightening care. My skin is thin and prone to redness, so I use it on days when my skin is doing well and take a break on days when it feels sensitive. I started my first bottle on March 12 and finished it on August 31. I didn't use it every morning and night, so in my case, it lasted about five and a half months. The texture is fresh and glides smoothly over the skin. It doesn't feel very sticky after it absorbs, so it's also easy to use before makeup in the morning. I sometimes use it together with POLA White Shot, and I also like that it doesn't feel too heavy. The full-size bottle costs 11,000 yen, so honestly, I thought it was expensive when I bought it. But with the way I use it, one bottle lasted about five and a half months, so it actually works out to around 2,000 yen a month. It was easier to keep using than I expected. I'm also happy that refills are available. Instead of transferring the contents, you replace the entire inner container, so it was easy. After I finished it, the pouch inside had shriveled down really small, and I like being able to see that I really used every last bit! I'm now on my second bottle and have been repurchasing the refill. When I bought mine, there was a campaign where you could receive a special 20 g size if you purchased two eligible HAKU products and applied using the product barcodes. I was already planning to keep using it, so I bought two at once and applied, and it arrived at my home later as promised. The regular size is 45 g, so I was happy that 20 g was a generous amount that I could get plenty of use out of! It's not cheap, but it feels good to use and is easy to work into my routine at my own pace while keeping an eye on how my skin is doing, so for now, it's a brightening serum I want to continue using.

SKIN1004Madagascar Centella Tone Brightening Capsule AmpouleI like SKIN1004 products, so I bought this thinking I'd try a different ampoule for a change. I can't really tell whether the brightening effect is working or not. The hydration is so-so, and it has white capsules? in it, but even when I carefully blend it in, they sometimes remain around the edges of my face. There are plenty of other ampoules out there for toning care, so my impression is that I probably wouldn't go out of my way to choose this one... That said, it doesn't cause any irritation, so it's a safe enough option to use.

KoséSekkisei Brightening Essence LotionAnyway, it's a lightweight, watery lotion that's easy to use in summer, and if you put it in the fridge, it feels cool and is even nicer to use. Since it's the type of liquid that doesn't interfere with makeup, I recommend it before applying makeup. It has a distinctive scent too, and I like it. It doesn't feel moisturizing, but I somehow feel like my skin calms down when I use it. As for the brightening effect, I've gone through about three bottles, but I couldn't really tell. Using it gives me peace of mind, so I use it in the morning, and I think I'll keep repurchasing it.

PolaWhite Shot SXS NAfter giving birth, I couldn't get any cosmetic treatments because I'm breastfeeding, and the medications I can use are limited, so I bought this as a last resort. I'm concerned about my acne scars and apply a thick layer every night, but even after using it for about three months now, they still haven't faded much. Also, the cream is very rich, and when I apply it with the pad of my finger, quite a lot of it sticks to my finger too, which feels like such a waste... I still haven't finished the first tube, but since I haven't seen any results in the short term, I'm starting to feel like maybe I'd be better off spending this much money on cosmetic treatments?

Hada LaboMelano CC Vitamin C Premium EssenceThis is seriously a serum I've been using forever! Ever since I first started using vitamin C skincare, this has been what comes to mind when I think of vitamin C. It seems like some people find it irritating, but I don't feel any irritation in particular, and I use about 10 drops on my whole face. It's also great value and lasts surprisingly long because it takes forever to run out! This is a little hack, but when I'm bothered by sebaceous filaments or clogged pores on my nose or other areas, I apply a generous amount of Melano CC Vitamin C Premium Essence to the area, leave it on for about 5 minutes, then rub it with a cotton swab soaked in Melano CC Vitamin C Premium Essence, and a shocking amount of gunk comes out! lol I don't know how it works, but it's so satisfying how much comes out, and I can do it with something I already have on hand, so I do it regularly.

manyoGlutathione 7 Dark Spot SerumI got this as PR, but it was better than I expected, so I bought it with my own money🫧 It feels moisturizing and seems to make my skin feel plump☁️ I'm concerned about acne and dullness, so I want to keep using it a little longer and see how it works🪄

manyoGlutathione 7 Dark Spot SerumI initially received this item as PR, but it felt so nice to use that I bought it myself, and I'm currently on my third bottle💛 It doesn't have that distinctive glutathione smell at all, and despite how it looks and how thick it feels when you dispense it, it blends into the skin unbelievably well. I think it's a glutathione serum you can use all year round🫶🏻 I'm happy because I feel like a lot of glutathione products tend to feel pretty heavy🎶 Since it has some thickness, just the right amount stays on the surface of the skin, and it feels moisturizing too, so it seems like it'll be really useful in fall and winter as well🫣💖 I've been reaching for it especially often lately as part of my end-of-summer skincare routine🎶

-
Hada LaboMelano CC Vitamin C Premium EssenceSince you can dispense it one drop at a time, it was great for storage and hygiene, but I found it a little sticky! I'd recommend using it just on areas where your pores are a concern!

PolaWhite Shot SXS NI bought this because I was concerned about the dark spots on my cheeks. I've now finished two tubes and started my third! It's a pretty thick cream, and the texture makes it easy to target specific dark spots rather than spreading it all over your face. I use it as a spot treatment on the dark spots on both cheeks, morning and night. I use HAKU brightening serum all over my face, so I'm currently using HAKU + White Shot together. I use HAKU all over and White Shot only on the dark spots I'm especially concerned about. I started using it on 1/10 and finished my second tube on 8/27. At this rate, one tube lasts around 100 days. It's pricey at $13,200, but in my case that works out to around $4,000 a month, so it lasted longer than I expected. What made me happiest after continuing to use it was that when I compared photos, the small dark spots I'd been concerned about looked lighter than before! Personally, I really feel like it's working. The larger dark spots, on the other hand, are still stubborn...! And at the end, I wondered, "Could there still be some left inside?" so I cut open the container, and quite a lot came out😂 Even when I thought I'd used it all up, there was still some left inside, so I recommend cutting it open at the end. It's expensive, but the thick cream is easy to apply exactly where you want it, and it lasts a really long time if you use it as a spot treatment. I could also see a difference when comparing photos, so I'll keep using it. I'm planning to buy a fourth tube too.

manyoGlutathione 7 Dark Spot Serum PatchA bouncy gel patch The gel? inside is pretty sticky and stays on your skin, but it absorbs while you have the patch on, so it doesn't bother me. The patch adheres well and doesn't slide off once applied, so I use it while towel drying my hair and stuff. It doesn't smell like glutathione either, so I can keep it on for a long time.

-
manyoGlutathione 7 Dark Spot SerumCompared to the brand's Galac Niacin Essence, this has a thicker texture. It still feels moisturized after it absorbs into the skin. It might be a little too moisturizing for people who prefer lightweight, watery products. It contains glutathione, but it doesn't have that distinctive glutathione smell, so I'd recommend it to people who don't like the smell but still want to use glutathione!

NumbuzinNo.5 Glutathione TXA Advanced Dark Spot Ampoule ConcentrateI've repurchased this more than 5 times. It's a serum with 10% tranexamic acid + glutathione. The unusual first step is dissolving the included glutathione powder into the tranexamic acid solution. That keeps it fresh, and I like that I can use it without worrying about oxidation. According to the official guidance, it seems ideal to use it up within 2 weeks. There's only 10 ml of liquid, so it's gone in no time.. It has a very watery texture, so it absorbs really well and leaves my skin feeling plump. It can feel a little too plump and sticky, but it settles in over time, so it doesn't bother me that much. I've been using it regularly for about a year because I feel like it's effective at preventing melasma. It also seems to brighten dullness, and I do feel like it's working somehow. Since it has 10% tranexamic acid, it's a little on the irritating side, but you don't get much product and it's affordably priced, so I think it's perfect for anyone who wants to try brightening with tranexamic acid. Personally, there have been a lot of high-concentration tranexamic acid products coming out lately, so I think I'll try those next and eventually settle on one. Also, the cap comes off very easily, so if you put it in a pouch or something, you have to handle it very carefully or the cap could come off and the liquid could leak out.. I'd appreciate it if it had a screw cap instead..

MediCubeAge-R Glutathione Glow SerumI used it every day and it was gone in a month. It spreads really well, so one drop (one full dropper) is enough, and the scent is unique, but I liked it. Citrus? It had a kind of calming smell. I used it for brightening care, but there wasn't really anything in particular that stood out to me.

CNP LaboratoryDerma Answer Brightening Booster TXA-PDRN AmpouleI use it twice a day, morning and evening. I’m on my third bottle—it’s a repurchase. I always make sure to include tranexamic acid and niacinamide in my skincare routine, and before this, I had been using Medicube’s tranexamic acid (5%) + niacinamide (10%) serum for a long time. That one is cheaper, but when this CNP product was newly released in the summer, I started choosing it because it had a higher concentration of tranexamic acid at 10%, plus 10% niacinamide and PDRN, so it felt like getting three beneficial ingredients in one. This serum doesn’t directly lighten dark spots or melasma, but I do feel like it’s helping prevent them. I can definitely feel that the 10% tranexamic acid is helping with prevention. Since it also contains high concentrations of niacinamide and PDRN, it seems like it should help with firmness and radiance too. The texture is rich and bouncy, so it moisturizes well too. That said, I would have liked it even more if it were a little more lightweight.. The Medicube one was very watery and left zero stickiness. This one feels bouncy, but that also means some stickiness remains. So I use it later in my skincare routine. If it were more lightweight, I could use it earlier and probably help it absorb even better, but.. Still, since I can get high-concentration tranexamic acid, niacinamide, and PDRN all in this one bottle, I figure it’s fine and have continued using it. It’s a little more expensive than Medicube, but since it packs all the ingredients I want into one bottle, the value isn’t bad either. Personally, I’m very satisfied with this product.

Hada LaboMelano CC Vitamin C Premium EssenceI’ve repurchased this at least 10 times. After trying all kinds of products, from expensive ones to affordable, highly rated ones, I’ve come to the conclusion that this is the best after all. It has that pleasantly warm feeling when you apply it that you only get with vitamin C, and I can’t live without it.

CNP LaboratoryDerma Answer Brightening Booster TXA-PDRN AmpouleIt was quite irritating, so I couldn’t use it on my sensitive skin. After using it once, my skin turned bright red and started stinging, so I had to wash it off right away. I think people who can tolerate this will be able to get beautiful skin.
