ElixirBrightening Lotion CAI bought this because I wanted a toner that also provides brightening care. I used it long enough to receive about three recurring deliveries! I use the "moist type." It's a slightly thick toner, but once you work it into your skin, it surprisingly feels like it absorbs really well, without feeling too sticky or heavy. My skin is thin and prone to dryness, so I like toners that feel like they properly replenish moisture. This was easy to use because it feels moisturizing without being too heavy. It's a quasi-drug containing 4MSK, an active brightening ingredient, and another reason I bought it was that I could get brightening care and age-appropriate moisturizing care at the same time. It comes in a fresh type and a moist type, but I'm definitely on team moist! I get it through recurring delivery, and the pump dispenser I received with my first order was also super convenient. Since it's something I use every day, this makes things way easier than I expected 😂

IPSAThe Time R Aqua EThe sample was so good that I ended up spending 5,500 yen on a toner. I used to be all about affordable toners, but I really liked how the sample felt, so I bought the full size. My skin is thin and prone to dryness, and it often feels like it's lacking moisture, but I like how this makes my skin feel thoroughly replenished and hydrated after using it. It's not a sticky, heavy kind of moisture—it feels fresh and dewy. It's been about three months since I bought it, and I've been alternating it with other toners, but so far it's a firm favorite. In terms of comparing products under the Shiseido umbrella, I also tried SHISEIDO Eudermine Activating Essence, and to me, it felt somewhat similar in the sense that it “hydrates with a fresh, dewy feel and leaves my skin balanced.” Eudermine is 9,900 yen for 145 mL, while IPSA is 5,500 yen for 200 mL. Of course, they're different products, so you can't compare them directly, but when it comes to what I want from a toner—“the feeling that my skin has been thoroughly replenished with moisture,” IPSA is extremely satisfying. The packaging is so beautiful that I'd just assumed it cost over 10,000 yen, so the fact that I saw 5,500 yen and thought, “That's surprisingly cheap!” means my sense of money is completely broken 👼 It's scary that my toner budget keeps going up and up, but this is a contender for a repurchase even after I finish it.

Skin&LabGlutathione Ampoule TonerThis toner caught my attention after I saw a makeup artist PICK it. What got me interested was purely a beauty professional's recommendation, but when I looked at the ingredients, I saw that it contains 3,000 ppm of 99% pure glutathione. I had always associated glutathione itself with IV drips and supplements, so I was surprised and intrigued to find it in skincare too. It also contains niacinamide, sodium hyaluronate, polyglutamic acid, ceramide NP, and more, and personally, I really liked the combination of ingredients as well. Rather than a product that puts glutathione alone front and center, it feels more like a toner that replenishes moisture while helping with dullness caused by dryness and improving the overall condition of the skin. The texture is on the moisturizing side but not too heavy, and it's easy to layer. Personally, I I like that it feels more like an ampoule toner, just as the name suggests, than a regular toner. I initially checked it out because “it was recommended,” but after actually looking at the ingredients and how it feels to use, I can see why this product is so popular. It's a toner I'd like people who choose products based on ingredients to check out at least once.

IPSAThe Time R Aqua EI love this product and have repurchased it 3 or 4 times. Lately I've only been using Korean products, so I haven't gotten to use this, but when I do, my skin feels like it's filled with moisture, and it's such a good product that it makes me think, this really is the one! It's just slightly viscous, but basically very watery. It's a product that helps your skin retain more moisture, so I think it's good for people with dehydrated skin or anyone who wants to boost hydration. It's a basic product, and I think it'll probably work for a lot of people's skin.

NaturieHatomugi Skin ConditionerGreat value, so you can splash it on generously ◎ The huge 500 ml bottle means you can use as much as you want without holding back! It feels light and watery, and it really came in handy when my skin felt hot or irritated. It doesn't feel very irritating, and the simple formula is reassuring ◎ Moisturizing-wise, it's so-so, I guess? Rather than deeply moisturizing, it feels like it gives your skin an initial boost of hydration. I recommend sealing it in with an emulsion or cream afterward. When my skin isn't doing well or I want to keep my summer skincare light, I like the first thing that touches my skin to be something simple like this ☺️ Would repurchase: Yes ◎

MatsuyamaHadauru Moisturizing Infusion Balancing LotionMy whole family shares and uses this at my parents' house. Above all, it's very gentle, and the best thing about it is that it absorbs gently without stinging, even when my skin is irritated or during seasons when it's prone to sensitivity. It's not sticky, but it thoroughly moisturizes all the way to the stratum corneum and helps calm my skin down. Anyone can use it comfortably regardless of age or skin type, so I think it's perfect for at-home skincare for the whole family. We plan to keep repurchasing it as a staple at my parents' house.

MamondeFlora Glow Rose Liquid MaskI tried this while looking for something that would help my makeup go on better, and I honestly liked it way more than I expected 🥹🌹 After I apply it, my skin texture feels smoother and more refined, so my base seems to go on so much prettier the next day!! Especially when applying foundation, it feels like it adheres to my skin more evenly than usual, and my base doesn’t lift as much because of flaky skin, so it’s great to use before makeup 💗 When I use it while my skin is looking dry and rough, it looks more hydrated and smooth, so I can really see a difference when I do my makeup ✨ I love that smooth, flawless look when makeup goes on well, so I was pretty satisfied, and I especially want to recommend this to anyone whose base keeps lifting or who’s worried about their skin texture 🫶🏻(I can’t do my makeup without this!!)

NaturieHatomugi Skin ConditionerIt has a light, watery texture that absorbs right into the skin! It isn't sticky, and even if you use a lot, it doesn't feel heavy, which is great. It feels refreshing, so when I'm worried about dryness, I want to layer an emulsion or cream on top!

CliniqueClarifying Lotion 1.0An alcohol-free product you can use as a wiping toner. I like it because when I wipe my face with this before doing my skincare, I can really tell that the products absorb better. I like that it doesn't irritate my skin since it's alcohol-free. That said, it is department-store makeup pricing, so I'm using a drugstore alternative for now, but in terms of how it feels to use, the Clinique product is better.

MatsuyamaHadauru Moisturizing Infusion Balancing LotionThis saved my skin when it was acting up, and I've repurchased it twice! When the seasons changed, my usual skincare routine stopped feeling like enough, and my skin started feeling parched and tight. By evening, it would get itchy and irritated, so I thought, "This is bad," and started using this when I reevaluated my skincare routine. That's when I added Matsuyama's lotion and cream. For me, this combination was really easy to use, and my skin started to calm down, so I've relied on it whenever my skin is acting up ever since. I liked the lotion so much that I've repurchased it twice. I'm usually the type who wants to try all kinds of lotions, but it's really reassuring to have something I can think, "I can use this," when my skin isn't doing well. It worked especially well for me during times when my skin was prone to dryness, tightness, and irritation, like when the seasons change. I want to keep this lotion on hand for whenever my skin acts up in the future.

Hada LaboShirojyun Medicated Whitening Lotion Moist TypeI've been using this for years. It's great value, and I love that I can use it generously from my face to my body. Compared to other moist types, it feels lighter, and I also like that it's less likely to irritate my skin. Some of the other lines can sting a little, but this one is easy to use even when my skin is acting up, and I rely on it when I want to keep my routine simple. In summer, I also recommend adding a vitamin C derivative or something similar for sun care!

-
ChifureWipe-Off LotionI've repurchased this more times than I can count over the past few years. When my skin is acting up, for some reason it seems to do better if I use this as the very first step in my skincare routine, so I always use it when the seasons change. My favorite way to use it is to attach a spray head and spritz it on.

Clé de Peau BeautéHydro-Clarifying Essence LotionThis is a light, fresh toner that gives your skin plenty of hydration! It has no thickness to it and absorbs quickly, leaving my skin smooth and silky afterward. When I use it with the brand-recommended cotton pads to wipe my skin, it feels very refreshing and leaves my skin quite dry to the touch. When I apply it with my hands, it feels like the hydration really sinks into my skin more. I like wiping it on with a cotton pad in the morning and applying it with my hands at night. One layer is hydrating enough, but even if I apply 2–3 layers, it doesn't feel sticky at all, and it's easy to layer serums and emulsions over it. Even with my oily, acne-prone skin, I didn't notice any irritation or dryness in particular. It has a lovely, elegant scent, and I don't notice any smell from the raw ingredients. The bottle is stylish and easy to use, and I also love how it makes me feel like I'm taking extra care with my skincare every time I use it. Honestly, it's not particularly cost-effective, and it's not priced low enough to use generously, so I use it when I want a little mood boost. Even so, the happiness I feel doing my skincare while surrounded by this scent is personally one of a kind. I'd recommend it for oily to combination skin, or for anyone who dislikes stickiness but still wants plenty of hydration. Even after I finish it, I'll probably end up buying it again 😂

AlbionSkin Conditioner Essential NMy go-to skincare product that I've been using forever. The smell makes it seem like it might be harsh, but it actually feels refreshing on the skin. It's great for preventing breakouts, of course, and it also helps with pores, so I think I'll keep using it.

AlbionSkin Conditioner Essential NI had the impression that this toner had a lot of loyal users, and I bought it after hearing that it works for a wide range of skin types. My concern is dryness, but it has a fresh, watery texture that absorbs into the skin quickly, and even when I layer it, it doesn't feel sticky or have trouble absorbing. It leaves my skin feeling smooth and is a very easy-to-use toner. I wouldn't say it feels particularly deeply moisturizing, so I use it more to replenish my skin's moisture. It also helps control oil and has a cool, refreshing effect, so I felt it would be good to use in summer when stickiness and flushed skin are a concern. It has a distinctive menthol scent that rushes coolly through your nose, and I was shocked by how strong it was the first time I used it, but once I got used to it, it became addictive, and now I really love this toner, scent included.

Hada LaboShirojyun White Moisturizing LotionAn easy-to-use lotion for my daily skincare routine🫧 I love how it feels fresh and lightweight and doesn't get too sticky. In the summer, my combination skin leans oily, so I prefer something this light over a rich, heavy lotion◎ It's great not only for daily moisturizing care, but also for brightening care* since I'm concerned about dullness. It's easy to adjust the amount based on how my skin is doing, and easy to work into my morning skincare routine too. It doesn't have any particular quirks, and in the end, something I can use every day without a second thought is the easiest to use. *Suppresses melanin production and helps prevent dark spots and freckles

manyoGalactomy Clearskin TonerA wipe-off toner with a refreshing feel Saturate a cotton pad and wipe your skin with it to help smooth out rough pores It can also be used as a regular toner, and since it isn't sticky, it's great for summer ◎ If you don't like sticky products, you could probably use it year-round. It's fragrance-free too, so that's another plus ◎

MatsuyamaM-mark Amino Acid Infusion TonerThis item went so viral for a while that you couldn't find it anywhere. Personally, I felt it was neither particularly good nor bad. I was using it as a pre-toner, so that may be why it was hard to tell if it was doing much. I'm glad that it's non-irritating and I can use it without any problems even when my skin is acting up. I saw a post on X suggesting using it like a wipe-off toner right after washing your face, so I'd like to keep experimenting and using it for a little while longer.

-
DecorteYouth Power Essence LotionIt's a watery lotion, but once you're done applying it, it feels surprisingly moisturizing. That said, it doesn't feel oily (although it's not oil-free), so I think it's great for people who don't like stickiness but still feel dryness!

SKIN1004Madagascar Centella Teca Soothing TonerTo put it in one word, “It’s neither good nor bad, but I’m grateful for it after skin treatments 😭.” 〈Good points〉 ・After getting cosmetic medical treatments at a clinic, like skin treatments, I feel like you’re not supposed to use anything too irritating, but this is something I can use safely at times like that. Honestly, I have a lot of toners, but a lot of recent products are pretty specialized toward one thing or another, so even with moisturizing ones, I find myself wondering, “Is it really okay to use this?” (Sometimes they feel gentle going on, but still contain retinol or something.) But this Centella one doesn’t have anything like that, so I felt safe using it! ・It smells kind of like oolong tea. I like that it’s natural. ・It leaves my skin feeling moisturized. I’ve gotten used to how Centella feels now, but when I first used it, my skin felt so moisturized and I thought it was really good. I really want people who use drugstore products and things like that to try it at least once. This is the product I’d most recommend to someone making their Korean skincare debut. 〈Bad points〉 ・This isn’t a product that can do some amazing thing for a particular skin concern, like making your pores disappear! (I guess it probably does soothe your skin, though?) So if you buy it expecting some kind of dramatic effect, I think you’ll end up feeling like, “This doesn’t do anything at all... This wasn’t good...” That said, if you use Centella TECA throughout your everyday skincare routine, I feel like your skin stops breaking out pretty quickly. (I once saw a review from someone who had been getting very little sleep and working crazy hours in Europe, but said that their skin didn’t break out as much as you’d expect given their lifestyle while using Centella, so I think this really is skincare that keeps things from getting worse and helps maintain a perfectly good condition.) By the way, I bought mine as part of a Qoo10 Mega Sale bundle, so I got it for quite a bit cheaper than the regular price. So I wouldn’t recommend buying it individually at full price. I think it’s best to get it during a sale!
