About Ethylhexyl Salicylate
Ethylhexyl salicylate is an ester of 2-ethylhexyl alcohol and salicylic acid.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to reduce changes to products and formula ingredients caused by ultraviolet radiation, and to absorb or reflect ultraviolet radiation to reduce the amount reaching the skin.[3] In Europe, when used as a UV-filtering ingredient, it is permitted at up to 5%.[2]
