About Ceteareth-20

Ceteareth-20 is a polyethylene glycol ether of cetearyl alcohol.[1] The number 20 at the end of the name refers to the average number of added ethylene oxide units. It changes the balance between water-loving and oil-loving parts, resulting in differences in cleansing power, emulsifying ability, and sensory feel. In cosmetics, it is used to help sebum and impurities wash away with water, create emulsified formulas in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and lower surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
