About C20-40 Pareth-10

C20-40 Pareth-10 is a polyethylene glycol ether of a synthetic mixture of C20-40 alcohols with an average of 10 moles of ethylene oxide.[1] The number 10 at the end of the name refers to the average number of ethylene oxide units added, changing the balance between water-loving and oil-loving portions and creating differences in cleansing ability, emulsifying ability, and sensory feel. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsions in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and to lower surface tension so ingredients can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
