About Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane
Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane is a substituted aromatic compound.[1] Its structure absorbs ultraviolet radiation at specific wavelengths and converts it into another form of energy; within permitted product types and concentrations, it is used to reduce the amount of ultraviolet radiation reaching the skin. In cosmetics, it is used to reduce changes to products and formulation ingredients caused by ultraviolet radiation, and to absorb or reflect ultraviolet radiation to reduce the amount reaching the skin.[3] In Europe, when used as a UV-filtering ingredient, it is permitted at up to 5%.[2]
