BioreOuchi de Esthe Deep Clay Facial CleanserThe cleansing power is strong, so it's great at getting rid of clogged pores and sebaceous plugs! But it also made my skin feel dry, and it stripped away so much oil that the next day's oiliness was... I moisturized thoroughly after using it and that still happened, so I think it'll only work for certain people. I won't repurchase. I think it'd be good for people with oily skin! Since it's a clay cleanser, the texture is about as thick as a firm mud mask.

MinonAmino Moist Moist Milky CleansingI repurchased this over 10 times—it was my go-to cleanser for years! I've tried all kinds of cleansers, but no matter how many times I strayed, I always ended up coming back to this one, and repurchased it over 10 times. What I liked most was how my skin felt after washing. It's a milk cleanser, and I love that my skin still feels moisturized afterward. Even during times of year when pollen or UV rays make my skin prone to stinging, it was relatively easy to use on my skin and gave me the peace of mind of knowing, "I can always go back to this for now." You can get it for around 1,500 yen, and for how it feels to use, I think it's really good value for money. I also like the simple packaging and how easy it is to keep by the sink. On the other hand, having to double cleanse is a bit of a hassle. Also, since it's a milk cleanser, I feel like it takes a little longer to work it into my makeup and emulsify compared to oil cleansers and the like. I've tried various high-end department store cleansers too, but I kept coming back to this product, thinking, "For this price, this moisturized feeling after washing is more than enough." I'm currently using a cleanser from M-mark Series while I look for something that suits me even better, but Minon was such a favorite that I used over 10 bottles of it.

SOQUMoisturizing & Brightening Rice Cleansing FoamI had high hopes because it was rice-based, but...hmm, overall it was kinda meh 🥲 I like rice-based skincare, so I tried it expecting it to feel gentle. The first thing that bothered me was the scent. To me, it smelled like household cleaner, and honestly, I really couldn't stand it. I'd assumed it would have a gentle, rice-like scent, so this was a little disappointing. The texture is creamy, but both the lather and how my skin felt after washing were just “pretty average, I guess?” It seems to contain hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, and other ingredients, but I didn't notice any particular difference while using it. Another minor annoyance is the packaging. The tube is pretty stiff and the opening is narrow, so it comes out in a super-thin string, which is a bit of a hassle every time 😂 It seems like you can also use it kind of like a face mask cleanser, but since I don't like the scent in the first place, I can't say I'm eager to use it... It's not so much that it's bad, but more that there wasn't anything about it that made me think, “It has to be this one!” Would not repurchase △

BioreOuchi de Esthe Deep Clay Facial CleanserBought this because I wanted to take care of the pores on my nose. The first time I used it, I washed my whole face with it and the skin around my eyes got super dry, which was awful, so now I only use it on my nose and around my chin. It doesn't cause any particular irritation, so it's good for using around my nose ◎ Not sure if it's actually breaking down the pore plugs, but I feel like using it is better than not using it at all..

FANCLSoftening Milk WashThis was the first non-foaming face wash I ever tried! I bought it with my own money to use as my morning cleanser and finished the whole bottle. Until then, I had only ever used foaming face washes, so it felt really new to just smooth the milk directly over my skin, rinse, and be done washing my face! Since I didn't have to lather it up, I used it every morning. I also like the way the runny milk glides smoothly over my skin. I have thin skin, and foaming face washes sometimes leave it feeling tight afterward, but this one didn't dry out my skin as much after washing and left it feeling soft and plump, which I liked. It was especially good during pollen season. Even when pollen made my skin bright red and my usual foaming face wash became painful to use, I could still use this. It was a huge help as a morning cleanser when my skin was acting up. After finishing one bottle, I thought, "Non-foaming face washes might actually be pretty good!" and now I'm trying all kinds of other milk and non-foaming cleansers, like IHADA. This is the product that got me hooked on non-foaming face washes.

ArenciaFresh Royal Rosehip CleanserA 2-in-1 product that can be used as both a mask and a cleanser. It has a smooth, paste-like texture that's easy to spread over the skin. When used as a mask, it keeps the skin feeling moisturized while it's on, and after rinsing, the skin feels refreshed without feeling tight. When using it as a cleanser, it's convenient because all you have to do is work it into wet skin and rinse it off. Unlike cleansers that you lather up first, it feels like you're building a lather while working the paste directly into your skin. I love that I can switch between using it as a mask or a cleanser depending on my mood and how my skin feels that day.

ZO Skin HealthExfoliating CleanserI use this every day. It's enough to remove my usual makeup, since I don't wear foundation or mascara. It's a blue gel with exfoliating particles, and I like how massaging it in circles around my nose and other areas feels like it clears the gunk out of my pores and leaves my skin feeling refreshed. I have mildly dry skin, but my skin doesn't feel tight after washing. It's a little pricey for a face wash, but the large size lasts quite a while, and since it doubles as a makeup remover, I think it's actually not bad value for money. Oil cleanser and mascara remover are a must when I'm wearing heavier makeup, but I'm very satisfied with it for everyday use and think I'll continue using it for a long time.

ZO Skin HealthGentle CleanserI purchased this while attending a ZO Skin Health seminar. When people hear ZO Skin Health, I think some may picture peeling or redness, but since this cleanser does not contain retinol or tretinoin, it wasn't the type of product that causes those kinds of reactions. It's a gel type that also removes makeup, and it leaves my skin feeling refreshed after washing. It lathers lightly and is easy to use when I want to thoroughly cleanse and refresh my skin. I think it's also an easy product to incorporate for those who are interested in ZO Skin Health skincare but are nervous about jumping straight into products that cause peeling or downtime. After actually using it, I like that it doesn't leave my skin feeling excessively tight after cleansing and that it's easy to use as my nighttime cleanser.

FANCLSkin Conditioning Cream WashI've used tons of face washes for dry skin, sensitive skin, and so on, but with my skin, every single one made it feel tight immediately after washing, and this is the only one that didn't. I definitely want people with similar skin to try it! It has mild cleansing power and leaves my skin feeling moisturized yet refreshed, and even a small amount works up into a rich, fluffy lather, so I can wash gently. I can use it with confidence not only in the dry winter, but also in spring when pollen makes my skin more prone to flare-ups, and I feel like it's easy to use year-round. I want to keep using it forever. This is my holy grail face wash.

FANCLPure Moist Cleansing FoamA foaming face wash I've repurchased 3 times. The foam is light, but it still feels like it cleans, and it doesn't feel hard to rinse off, so I like it and keep repurchasing it. I also love that the refill keeps the price down.

BioreOuchi de Esthe Deep Clay Facial CleanserI absolutely love this gel cleanser line, and I’ve been using gel cleansers themselves for about 10 years noooow. You don’t have to lather it up—just apply the gel as is and rinse it off. It’s way too easy. I love how refreshed my skin feels after rinsing, and how it doesn’t leave my skin feeling tight. Best of all, it’s cheap. And then, wouldn’t you know it, a new line that’s apparently going viral came out. I’m not sure if there’s an obvious difference, but it feels like it has stronger cleansing power, so I think it’s perfect for summer.

MinonAmino Moist Moist Milky CleansingThe texture is milky → once you work it in, it turns silky and runny, almost like oil! Other cleansing creams can feel thick and draggy, fail to remove all your makeup, or leave behind a greasy film, but this one blends in quickly and removes just the makeup without stripping too much sebum, so your skin feels moisturized after rinsing. Since its concept is “water-retaining skin,” you can really feel the softness and hydration! Recommended for anyone who wants to gently and thoroughly remove light makeup, or wants their skin to feel hydrated even after cleansing.

BioreOuchi de Esthe Deep Clay Facial CleanserIt was pretty hard to find, so I searched around at drugstores everywhere and finally managed to buy it. I already liked Biore face washes, but this is a new product specialized for pore concerns that leaves your skin feeling clean by removing sebum and grime. The texture is thick, but it contains a fair amount of moisture, so it feels like a loose, soft clay mask. Since it’s a non-foaming gel type, you apply it to your face, massage it in using circular motions, and rinse it off. You can also apply it all over your face like a clay mask, leave it on for about a minute, and then rinse it off. After washing my face, I felt like it cleaned my pores while leaving my skin moisturized without making it feel tight. Personally, I like using it as a clay mask the best. I’m happy that I can use it every day because it doesn’t leave my skin feeling tight.
