About Xylityl Cocoate
Xylityl Cocoate is an ester in which acid- and alcohol-derived portions are bonded together.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to reduce friction on skin or hair and add a smooth feel, create emulsified formulas in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and help prevent emulsions of water and oil from separating easily.[1] It is also used to attract moisture to the formula and skin surface to help maintain hydration, add flexibility so films or polymer layers do not become excessively rigid, and leave the skin surface soft and smooth.[1]
