Wheat Germ Acid is a mixture of fatty acids obtained from wheat germ.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to help sebum and impurities wash away with water, reduce friction on the skin or hair and add a smooth feel, and create emulsion formulations in which water and oil are evenly mixed.[2] It is also used to leave the skin surface feeling soft and smooth and to lower surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
