About Undecylenic Acid
Undecylenic Acid is an aliphatic acid.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to help sebum and impurities wash away with water, create emulsified formulas in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and inhibit the growth of microorganisms in the product to delay deterioration during storage.[3] It is also used to lower surface tension so ingredients can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[3] In Europe, when used as a preservative, it is permitted at up to 0.2% (based on acid content).[2]
