About Undecylenamide DEA
Undecylenamide DEA is a mixture of ethanolamides of undecylenic acid.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to reduce the formation or visibility of scalp dandruff, inhibit microbial growth, and reduce static electricity that causes hair strands to lift or stick together.[3] It is also used to increase foam volume and keep it from collapsing easily, to smooth hair by reducing tangling and rough feel, and to adjust the viscosity and flow of the formulation.[3] In Europe, the secondary amine content of finished products is limited to a maximum of 0.5%, and nitrosamine content must also be no more than 50 μg/kg.[2]
