About Trideceth-50
Trideceth-50 is the polyethylene glycol ether of tridecyl alcohol.[1] The number 50 at the end of the name indicates the average number of added ethylene oxide units. By changing the balance between water-affine and fat-affine portions, this number affects cleansing, emulsifying performance, and sensory feel. In cosmetics, it is used to help sebum and impurities wash away with water, to create emulsified formulations in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and to lower surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
