Trideceth-12 is the polyethylene glycol ether of tridecyl alcohol.[1] The number 12 at the end of the name refers to the average number of added ethylene oxide units. It changes the balance between the water-loving and oil-loving portions, resulting in differences in cleansing power, emulsifying ability, and feel during use. In cosmetics, it is used to create evenly mixed water-and-oil emulsions and to lower surface tension so raw materials can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
