About Triclocarban

Triclocarban is a substituted carbanilide.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to reduce noticeable unpleasant odors and to inhibit the growth of microorganisms in products, slowing deterioration during storage.[3] In Europe, up to 0.2% is permitted when used as a preservative.[2] However, it cannot be used in products for children under 6 years of age.[2] In Europe, up to 1.5% may be used in rinse-off cosmetic products.[2]
