About Tea-Tallate
Tea-Tallate is the triethanolamine salt of tall oil fatty acids.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to help sebum and impurities wash away with water, create emulsions in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and lower surface tension so raw materials wet, mix, and spread evenly.[3] In Europe, it is limited to a maximum of 2.5% in leave-on products, while no separate maximum concentration is set for rinse-off products. Nitrosamines must also not exceed 50 μg/kg.[2]
