About Tea-Sorbate

Tea-Sorbate is the triethanolamine salt of sorbic acid.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to inhibit the growth of microorganisms and to slow spoilage during storage by inhibiting microbial proliferation in products.[3] In Europe, when used as a preservative, it is permitted at up to 0.6% (based on acid content).[2] When used for purposes other than preservation, it is permitted at up to 2.5% in leave-on products; no separate maximum concentration is specified for rinse-off products. Nitrosamines must also be no more than 50 μg/kg.[2]
