About Tea-Salicylate
Tea-Salicylate is the triethanolamine salt of salicylic acid.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to inhibit the growth of microorganisms in products and delay deterioration during storage, and to reduce changes to the product and formula ingredients caused by ultraviolet light.[3] In Europe, when used as a preservative, it is permitted at up to 0.5% (based on acid content).[2] However, it cannot be used in products for children under 3 years of age.[2]
