About Tea-Phenylbenzimidazole Sulfonate
TEA-Phenylbenzimidazole Sulfonate is an organic salt.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to reduce changes to products and formula ingredients caused by ultraviolet radiation and to absorb or reflect ultraviolet radiation, reducing the amount that reaches the skin.[3] In Europe, when used as a UV filter, it is permitted up to 8% (based on acid content).[2] It is also permitted up to 2.5% in leave-on products, with no separate maximum concentration specified for rinse-off products. Nitrosamines must not exceed 50 μg/kg.[2]
