About Tea-Lauryl Sulfate

TEA-Lauryl Sulfate is the triethanolamine salt of laurylsulfuric acid.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to help sebum and impurities wash away with water, create emulsion formulations in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and form foam during use.[3] It is also used to lower surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[3] In Europe, it may be used at up to 2.5% in leave-on products; no separate maximum concentration is set for rinse-off products. Nitrosamines must also be no more than 50 μg/kg.[2]
