About Tea-Lauroyl Keratin Amino Acids
TEA-Lauroyl Keratin Amino Acids is the triethanolamine salt of the condensation product of lauric acid chloride and keratin amino acids.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to reduce static electricity that causes hair strands to lift or stick together, to help sebum and impurities rinse away with water, and to reduce tangling and rough feel, leaving hair smooth and manageable.[3] It is also used to leave the skin's surface feeling soft and smooth and to lower surface tension so that ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[3] In Europe, the maximum concentration is 2.5% in leave-on products, while no separate maximum concentration is set for rinse-off products. Nitrosamines must also be no more than 50 μg/kg.[2]
