About Tea-Laureth Sulfate
TEA-Laureth Sulfate is the triethanolamine salt of ethoxylated lauryl sulfate.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to help sebum and impurities rinse away with water, create emulsified formulations in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and form foam during use.[3] It is also used to reduce surface tension so ingredients can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[3] In Europe, the maximum concentration is 2.5% in leave-on products, with no separate maximum concentration set for rinse-off products. Nitrosamines must also be no more than 50 μg/kg.[2]
