About Tea-Lauraminopropionate
TEA-Lauraminopropionate is the triethanolamine salt of a substituted propionic acid.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to reduce static electricity that causes hair strands to lift or stick together, help sebum and impurities wash away with water, and increase the amount of foam and help it last longer.[3] It is also used to reduce tangling and rough feel, leaving hair smooth, and to lower surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[3] In Europe, it may be used at up to 2.5% in leave-on products; no separate maximum concentration is set for rinse-off products. Nitrosamines must also be no more than 50 μg/kg.[2]
