About Tea-Isostearate

Tea-Isostearate is the triethanolamine salt of isostearic acid.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to help sebum and impurities wash away with water, to create emulsions in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and to reduce tangling and roughness in hair and leave it feeling smooth.[3] It is also used to lower surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[3] In Europe, it may be used at up to 2.5% in leave-on products; no separate maximum concentration is specified for rinse-off products. Nitrosamines must also be no more than 50 μg/kg.[2]
