TEA-Dodecylbenzenesulfonate is a substituted aromatic compound.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to help sebum and impurities be washed away with water, to form foam during use, and to lower surface tension so ingredients can be wetted, mixed, and spread evenly.[3] In Europe, it is limited to 2.5% in leave-on products, while no separate maximum concentration is specified for rinse-off products. Nitrosamines must also be no higher than 50 μg/kg.[2]
