About Tea-Cocoyl Glutamate

TEA-Cocoyl Glutamate is the triethanolamine salt of the coconut acid amide of glutamic acid.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to help sebum and impurities wash away with water, reduce hair tangling and roughness for smoother conditioning, and reduce surface tension so that ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[3] In Europe, the maximum concentration is 2.5% in leave-on products, while no separate maximum concentration is set for rinse-off products. Nitrosamines must also be no more than 50 μg/kg.[2]
