About Tea C14-17 Alkyl Sec Sulfonate

TEA C14-17 Alkyl Sec Sulfonate is the triethanolamine salt of sulfonated C14-17 secondary alkanes.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to help sebum and impurities rinse away with water, increase the amount of foam and help it persist, and help ingredients that do not dissolve well in water disperse more evenly in the water phase.[3] In Europe, a maximum of 2.5% is permitted in leave-on products, while no separate maximum concentration is specified for rinse-off products. Nitrosamines must also be no more than 50 μg/kg.[2]
