About Tea-C12-13 Pareth-3 Sulfate

Tea-C12-13 Pareth-3 Sulfate is the triethanolamine salt of the sulfate ester of C12-13 Pareth-3.[1] The number 3 at the end of the name refers to the average number of ethylene oxide units added, changing the balance between water-loving and oil-loving portions and creating differences in cleansing performance, emulsifying ability, and sensory feel. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsified formulas in which water and oil are evenly mixed and to reduce surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[3] In Europe, the maximum concentration is 2.5% in leave-on products, with no separate maximum concentration specified for rinse-off products. Nitrosamines must also be no more than 50 μg/kg.[2]
