About Tea-Alginate

TEA-Alginate is the triethanolamine salt of alginic acid.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to help ingredients in a formulation bind together and maintain its shape, prevent emulsions of water and oil from separating easily, and adjust the formulation’s viscosity and flow.[3] In Europe, the maximum concentration is 2.5% in leave-on products, while no separate maximum concentration is specified for rinse-off products. Nitrosamines must also be no more than 50 μg/kg.[2]
