About Tbhq
TBHQ is a phenol.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to slow the oxidation of formula ingredients caused by reactions with oxygen, keep the inherent odor or taste of raw materials from becoming too pronounced, and add fragrance to a product or adjust the inherent odor of raw materials.[3] It is described as a white to pale yellow crystalline powder, so when it is in solid form, it is important to melt it first or disperse it evenly so it does not clump in the formula.[2]
