About Tannic Acid
Tannic Acid is a mixture of organic acids.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to provide a temporarily tightening, astringent feel on the skin or scalp and to prevent the raw material's characteristic odor or taste from becoming overly prominent.[3] It is described as a pale yellow solid with a characteristic odor, so the phase in which it dissolves more readily—water or oil—should be identified first and it should be dissolved or dispersed into the appropriate phase to help create a uniform formula.[2]
