About Tallowtrimonium Chloride

Tallowtrimonium Chloride is a quaternary ammonium salt.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to reduce static electricity that causes hair strands to lift or stick together, to smooth hair by reducing tangling and rough feel, and to inhibit the growth of microorganisms in the product to slow deterioration during storage.[3] It is also used to lower surface tension so raw materials can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[3] In Europe, when used as a preservative, it is permitted up to 0.1%.[2]
