About Tall Oil Acid
Tall Oil Acid is a mixture of resin acids and fatty acids obtained by hydrolyzing tall oil.[1] Its fatty components, obtained from the seeds of tall oil, are predominant, so it mixes better with oil than water and is suitable for adding slip and a flexible feel to skin or hair while reducing the sensation of rapid moisture loss. In cosmetics, it is used to help wash away sebum and impurities with water, reduce friction on the skin or hair and add a smooth feel, and create emulsions in which water and oil are evenly mixed.[2] It is also used to lower surface tension so ingredients can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
