About Sucrose Polystearate
Sucrose Polystearate is a mixture of esters of stearic acid and sucrose.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to reduce friction on the skin or hair and add a smooth feel, to create emulsions in which water and oil are evenly blended, and to condition the skin surface so it feels soft and smooth.[2] It is also used to reduce surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
