About Sterculia Urens Gum
Sterculia Urens Gum is a dried exudate obtained from the karaya tree.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to help formulation ingredients bind together and maintain the product's shape, to prevent water-and-oil emulsions from separating easily, and to hold the desired hair shape in place.[2] It is also used to prevent the characteristic odor or taste of raw materials from becoming too noticeable and to adjust the viscosity and flow of a formulation.[2]
