About Stearyl Betaine

Stearyl Betaine is a zwitterion (inner salt).[1] In cosmetics, it is used to reduce static electricity that causes hair strands to lift or stick together, help sebum and dirt rinse away with water, and increase the amount of foam and help it last longer.[2] It is also used to form foam during use, reduce hair tangling and roughness for smoother manageability, and leave the skin surface soft and smooth.[2] It is used to lower surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly, and to adjust the viscosity and flow of the formula.[2]
