About Steartrimonium Chloride

Steartrimonium Chloride is a quaternary ammonium salt.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to reduce static electricity that causes hair strands to lift or cling together, to reduce tangling and a rough feel and leave hair smooth and manageable, and to inhibit the growth of microorganisms in the product and delay spoilage during storage.[3] In Europe, when used as a preservative, it is permitted at up to 0.1%.[2]
