About Steareth-7

Steareth-7 is the polyethylene glycol ether of stearyl alcohol.[1] The number 7 at the end of the name indicates the average number of ethylene oxide units added, changing the balance between the water-attracting and oil-attracting portions and thereby affecting cleansing power, emulsifying ability, and sensory feel. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsified formulations in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and to lower surface tension so ingredients can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
