About Steareth-30

Steareth-30 is the polyethylene glycol ether of stearyl alcohol.[1] The number 30 at the end of the name indicates the average number of ethylene oxide units added. It changes the balance between the water-loving and oil-loving parts, resulting in differences in cleansing power, emulsifying ability, and skin feel. In cosmetics, it is used to help sebum and impurities be washed away with water, give liquid formulations a gel-like form and viscosity, and reduce surface tension so that ingredients can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
