About Steareth-25
Steareth-25 is the polyethylene glycol ether of stearyl alcohol.[1] The number 25 at the end of the name refers to the average number of added ethylene oxide units and changes the balance between the water-loving and oil-loving portions, resulting in differences in cleansing and emulsifying properties and feel. In cosmetics, it is used to help sebum and impurities wash away with water, to create an emulsion in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and to lower surface tension so that raw materials wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
