About Steareth-200
Steareth-200 is a polyethylene glycol ether of stearyl alcohol.[1] The number 200 at the end of the name refers to the average number of added ethylene oxide units; it changes the balance between the water-attracting and fat-attracting portions, resulting in differences in cleansing ability, emulsifying ability, and feel. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsions in which water and oil are evenly mixed and to lower surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
