About Steareth-100

Steareth-100 is the polyethylene glycol ether of stearyl alcohol.[1] The number 100 at the end of the name refers to the average number of added ethylene oxide units and changes the balance between water-loving and oil-loving portions, resulting in differences in cleansing power, emulsifying ability, and feel. In cosmetics, it is used to give liquid formulations a gel-like form and viscosity and to lower surface tension so that raw materials can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
