About Stearamidopropyl Betaine

Stearamidopropyl Betaine is a zwitterionic compound (inner salt).[1] In cosmetics, it is used to reduce static electricity that causes hair strands to lift or stick together, help sebum and impurities wash away with water, and promote foam formation during use.[2] It is also used to reduce tangling and rough feel in hair, leaving it smooth and manageable; to leave the skin surface feeling soft and smooth; and to reduce surface tension so raw materials wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2] It is used to adjust the viscosity and flow of the formulation.[2]
