About Starch Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride

Starch Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride is a quaternary ammonium compound obtained by reacting starch with 2,3-epoxypropyltrimethylammonium chloride.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to reduce static electricity that causes hair strands to lift or cling together, keep emulsions of water and oil from separating easily, and reduce tangling and roughness in hair for smoother conditioning.[2] It is also used to control the viscosity and flow of the formula.[2]
