About Soytrimonium Chloride
Soytrimonium Chloride is a quaternary ammonium salt.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to reduce static electricity that causes hair strands to lift or cling together, create emulsified formulations in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and smooth and manage hair by reducing tangling and rough feel.[3] It is also used to inhibit the growth of microorganisms in a product and delay deterioration during storage, and to lower surface tension so raw materials wet, mix, and spread evenly.[3] In Europe, when used as a preservative, it is permitted at up to 0.1%.[2]
