About Sodium Tocopheryl Phosphate
Sodium Tocopheryl Phosphate is the sodium salt of a mixture of esters of phosphoric acid and tocopherol.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to slow the oxidation of formula ingredients caused by reactions with oxygen, to form emulsions in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and to help prevent these emulsions from separating easily.[2] It is also used in reactions that reduce other ingredients, to leave the skin’s surface feeling soft and smooth, and to lower surface tension so raw materials wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2] It is used to adjust a formula’s viscosity and flow.[2]
