About Sodium/Tea-Undecylenoyl Carrageenan

Sodium/TEA-Undecylenoyl Carrageenan is a mixture of the sodium salt and triethanolamine salt of the condensate formed from undecylenic acid chloride and carrageenan.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to help keep emulsions of water and oil from separating, to reduce tangling and roughness in hair for smooth manageability, and to leave the skin feeling soft and smooth.[3] In Europe, it is permitted at up to 2.5% in leave-on products, while no separate maximum concentration is specified for rinse-off products. Nitrosamines must also be no more than 50 μg/kg.[2]
