Sodium Stearoyl Hydrolyzed Corn Protein is the sodium salt of the condensation product of stearic acid chloride and hydrolyzed corn protein.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to help sebum and impurities wash away with water, reduce tangling and rough feel for smoother hair, and leave the skin surface feeling soft and smooth.[2] It is also used to lower surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
