About Sodium Metabisulfite
Sodium Metabisulfite is an inorganic salt.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to slow the oxidation of formula ingredients caused by reaction with oxygen, to inhibit microbial growth in the product and delay deterioration during storage, and to reduce other ingredients.[3] In Europe, when used as a preservative, it is permitted up to 0.2% based on free sulfur dioxide content.[2]
