Sodium lauroyl isethionate is the sodium salt of the lauric acid ester of isethionic acid.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to reduce static electricity that causes hair strands to lift or stick together, help sebum and impurities wash away with water, and form foam during use.[2] It is also used to reduce tangling and rough feel for smoother hair, leave the skin’s surface feeling soft and smooth, and lower surface tension so raw materials can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
